Rest day in Jaipur

Jaipur is the largest city and capital of the state of Rajasthan. There are over 3 million people in the city. Jaipur became known as “The Pink City” when, in 1876, Maharaja Ram Singh had most of the buildings painted pink—the color of hospitality—in preparation for a visit by Britain's Queen Victoria.

Jaipur is a big tourist destination with two UNESCO world heritage sites, Amer Fort or Amber Fort and Jantar Mantar

Amber Fort, has the third longest wall in the world.

Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal, also known as “Palace of Breeze”, was built in 1799 as an extension to the Royal City Palace of Jaipur.

It allows the royal ladies who at the time strictly observed “pardah”, to be able to watch any processions and activities on the street without being seen by the public.

Took a short tour of a block printing textile company, had a tunic and pants custom made while I was there.
